November 2024Nationality of Inventor(s) Now Required on Patent Applications
The enforcement regulation of the Korea Patent Act has been revised to require entry of the nationality, the country of residence, and the date of birth of each and every inventor on all patent applications (inclusive of divisional applications) submitted on or after November 1, 2024. Of the required entries, entry of the nationality of the respective inventor is mandatory, the country of residence may be substituted with the country of the respective inventor’s address, and the entry of date of birth is optional.
Therefore, from now on, when instructing us to handle patent applications, please provide us also with the information regarding the nationalities of all inventors.
